Get Active and Healthy in 2012 with Council
Posted on Monday, 13 February, 2012
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk has announced Council’s Active and Healthy program has begun a fresh round of activities to kick off 2012.
We're encouraging residents of all ages and fitness levels to have a look at what is on offer in the local area and get involved in something new.
The Quirk Administration wants Brisbane to be an inclusive and accessible city and initiatives like this are just another way Council is making it easier for people to get involved in their local community.
The program offers a diverse range of activities every week at local parks and waterways across inner-northern Brisbane suburbs.
Something that many people may have heard about but not had the chance to try are Tai Chi and Qigong classes – which might sound complicated but have very easy to follow moves.
They’re on in the T.C Beirne Park at Hendra, early on Wednesday mornings and everyone is welcome.
So come along and give it a go – it’s a great way to stay active in Brisbane’s beautiful outdoors.
The gentle Tai Chi and Qigong classes are designed to help people feel relaxed, refreshed and calm.
Classes are free and commence at 7am each Wednesday; come along in comfortable clothing, with a hat and bottle of water.
