Kalinga Park reaches monumental milestone
Posted on Friday, 1 October, 2010
I’m inviting the residents of Brisbane to celebrate a significant milestone in the history of our area.
It is 100 years since Kalinga Park in Clayfield was dedicated as a park.
To mark this occasion, we’ve got an afternoon and evening of family fun and activity planned, including face painting, tug of war, gum boot throwing, stilt walking, wildlife displays, crazy cricket and live musical entertainment - a mixture of talent on show from our local schools and professional performers.
The day’s activities will reflect the entertainment provided 100 years ago, with a 21st century flavour.
With the help of the Kalinga Wooloowin Residents Association (KWRA) and the Shire of Toombul History Group, we have set out to make Saturday 9 October, a day not to forget.
Bring your hat, chair and picnic blanket and come along to soak up the atmosphere at Kalinga Park.
Celebrations will commence from 1pm and run until late in the evening with a special movie in the park screening of 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meat Balls' from 6:30pm – definitely an element NOT on the program 100 years ago!
