What do the Development Application Codes mean?
All development applications (DAs) are assessed by Council Officers in respect to the existing City Plan. Click here to view the plan online.
CODE ASSESSABLE applications are judged by Council officers to meet the requirements of City Plan for the location of the application. The DA does not have to be advertised. Neighbours and the general public can make submissions to Council, but there are no formal submission rights and there is no right of appeal.
NOTIFIABLE CODE applications require that the DA is advertised for submissions of objection or support via a sign on site. Written notification to adjoining neighbours is required. Advertisement may also include notification in local news publications. Neighbours and the general public can lodge submissions during the advertised period, however, there is no right of appeal to the Planning and Environment Court.
IMPACT ASSESSABLE applications: as for Notifiable Code, but provides submitters with appeal rights when submissions are lodged during the advertised period.
